It will be located below the Mercedes electric flagship EQS.
When it comes to Mercedes’ new “EQ”, family of pure electric vehicles, the EQC just isn’t the end of the iceberg. The three-pointed star already showed off an entry-level car, the EQA compact hatchback, and a people-mover with EQV. A pure electric version will be available in 2021, bearing the EQB moniker. Meanwhile, a flagship EQS sedan will be released the same year as S-Class electric cars.
It is now known that Mercedes also works on an EQE. This was revealed by Autocar in a document published by the Chinese Ministry of Information and Technology. The EQE, which was developed under the codename “V295”, will be smaller than the E-Class Sedan and offer more space than the S–Class.
According to the report, the EQE sedan will offer a lower ride height than the standard E-Class. It will also be available exclusively with a four wheel-drive system. A front-wheel electric motor will drive the wheels, while the rear wheel will be driven by the other. However, a RWD version is being considered. The tail-happy version will not be released until 2022 if it is approved.
The output of the two electric motors is said to be higher than the 402 horsepower (and 564 pound-feet (765 Newton meters) of torque in the EQC. The EQE will offer a maximum range of approximately 373 miles (600 km) due to future advancements in battery technology.
The Tesla Model S rival Mercedes EQE is packed with technology. It includes four-wheel steering and a sophisticated air spring that provides a smooth ride. Safety tech from the ESF concept, which is GLE-based, will also be integrated into it. This concept features a semi-autonomous driving system with many safety features and advanced semi-autonomous driving technology.
The EQE, like the next-generation S-Class or its electric EQS sibling will be made in Germany at the new factory 56 in Sindelfingen.
