The screen can be accessed by even passengers.
Mercedes has yet to reveal the new EQS all electric sedan. However, the German automaker is happy to showcase some of its tech. Tomorrow the MBUX Hyperscreen will be unveiled by the company. It is a super-wide, curved dashboard-spanning screen that spans the entire width of the car and features a next-generation infotainment platform. Gordon Wagener, Mercedes Chief Designer, posted a video to Instagram that teases the new screen and gives us our first glimpse.
It will be accessible by passengers, as shown in the teaser. The video shows the dashboard’s passenger side, which is alight. It has a similar shape to the driver’s. Mercedes’ trick dashboard is in line with the growing trend for automakers to put screens in cars. Mercedes was the first to do this several years ago, when it introduced its dual-screen display. The Porsche Taycan is the only car that offers passengers a screen. The Jeep Grand Wagoneer Concept also featured one.
Although details about the software are not available, the company claims that it will include artificial intelligence to assist with vehicle functions, the HVAC controls, and the infotainment system. Wagener wrote that the company had “merged analogue with digital design” for the new screen. Mercedes stated that the Hyperscreen will be available on the EQS. The dashboard layout for the base EQS models is likely to be different. This screen will likely be seen in all models of Mercedes EVs and may even extend to other models.
The EQS will mark the debut of the first American electric vehicle by the automaker. It is scheduled to go on sale in 2022 as a 2022 model. On Europe’s WLTP cycle, the most efficient version will be capable of driving up to 435 miles (700 km) on one charge. If you are looking for more power, there is a possibility of a dual motor AMG version with 600 horsepower (or 447 kilowatts).
