An S-Class can now be purchased with 300 SL Gullwing’s paint.

The Manufaktur program was introduced by Mercedes for the G-Class over two years ago. Now, other models are receiving the special treatment of the three-pointed star. The Benz S-Class with a long wheelbase and the Maybach S-Class with a longer wheelbase can have a greater variety of customizations. This includes the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, and the “lesser CLS.”

What is Manufaktur really bringing to the table? You can choose the body color. Buyers can order the same silicon gray uni as the cars used up until the 1960s. This includes the iconic 300SL Gullwing. Some models had graphite or olive metallic paints in the 1980s. They are back for 2021.

The cabin continues to be upgraded by Manufaktur. Mercedes models with high-end features can have fancy Nappa leather in contrasting colors, such as deep white/black or the unusual yellow/black that was offered for the S-Class up until 2012. You can mix and match different shades according to your personal preference, including nut brown/black and truffle brown/black.

The cars can have optional cushions in the same colour as the seats and decorated with embroidered logos such as the double M, star, or AMG badge. These logos can be finished in gold, or platinum for those who want a more flashy look. German luxury brand Luxus can personalize the leather steering wheel by using a two-tone theme. This will match the door cards, lower half of dashboard and armrest.

To make sure everyone knows that you didn’t buy a generic Mercedes, animated patterns with Maybach or Benz logos light up the area around the rear and front doors. You can do this by installing four projectors inside the doors. The LCDs automatically turn off after 10 min.

These fancy options will be available on future high-end models such as the Maybach GLS, and its fully electric counterpart the EQS SUV, which is due for 2023.
