Mercedes G-Class 4×4 Quadr Squared Spied Looking Strong While Riding Tall

The prototype featured a roof rack that could be reached by climbing up the rear ladder.

Olakallenius, Daimler CEO, recently said Mercedes went a little too far to cover every space in every segment. He promised to look at the lineup and determine if there are any models that should be dropped. The new spy photos of the G-Class 4×4 jacked-up are directly contrary to the head honcho’s statements. However, the Squared was approved long ago.

Although you might not like Mercedes’ SUVs, you must admit that the three-pointed star is a master at making a cool utility vehicle. G-Class 4×4 Squared stands tall with its portal axles, giving it all the ground clearance that you could need. Camouflage on the sides is useless as we can see the massive wheel arches that make room for the chunky tires.

The rear-mounted ladder allows access to the roof rack. This setup looks strangely familiar, as we have seen similar configurations on the Brabus 800 AdventureXLP, a rugged G63 that has been transformed into a pickup truck. Mercedes camouflaged the roof rack’s front section, which suggests that it may have some auxiliary lights. We are not sure what the purpose of the additional disguise on the spare wheel is, as it cannot conceal anything important.

We are tempted to believe that the G-Class 4×4 Squared model is based on a Benz-branded model, considering the prototype does not have the Panamericana grille and the G63’s Panamericana grille. The G550 could be used as the basis for it, although it isn’t an AMG. Its twin-turbo, 4.0-liter V8 produces 416 horsepower and 450 pounds-feet (601 Newton-meters) torque.

The test car appears to be ready to shed its camouflage. Expect a debut in the next weeks or months. It is not yet known how much it will cost, but it can be expected to cost significantly more than what Mercedes would charge for a standard HTML550 in the United States. The old G550 4×4 was priced at a staggering $225,000. You would have to spend AMG G65 money.

We want another ridiculous G Class 6×6 beast with three axles. Mercedes is a big fan of lifted off-roaders. They have created one-offs such as the EQC4x42 or my personal favorite, the E-Class All-Terrain 42×42 .
