A new set of spy images features the menacing Mercedes G Class Light Armored Patrol Vehicle.
The iconic G Class, although it is many decades old, is still going strong and will not be lost. A major facelift is expected to be in production by 2017. Mercedes will launch a Light Armoured Patrol Vehicle, which will be a harder-core version of LAPV 6.1’s armored G Wagon LAPV 6.1.
The prototype was found near the Arctic Circle. It is likely to be based on the high-riding 500 4×42. However, it has a heavier-duty suspension, larger wheels and more off-road tires. Although this prototype does not have body armor, the final version will.
Although this spy image doesn’t show interior, the prior showed a sparse cabin that you would expect from a military vehicle. It is possible that the prototype was in its early testing phase, as it had wires sticking out and a monitor.
The Mercedes LAPV is not expected to be on display at any car show, as the model was not intended for commercial use.
