Although it is not the most elegant Benz these days, the G-Class will get more updates next year.
Auto evolution sources say that the G-Wagen (as it is known in German) will receive its third update in just four years after a minor facelift in 2007. The introduction of the new model 2011 is expected to take place at the Paris auto show.
The exterior will receive subtle retouching while the interior will get the necessary upgrade to match the latest Mercedes-Benz cabin features. All European models will now be compliant with Euro 5 emission standards.
Benz’s newest 5.5 liter twin turbo V8 will be replacing the G500’s 5.5 liter V8. This will provide more power and fuel economy. AMG G 63 is on the horizon for 2012, with a more powerful twin-turbo V8.
While the G-Class’s design is pleasing, it is important to remember that its origins were in 1979. It was designed as an off-road vehicle. This is not the type of SUV driver you want.
