You could also remodel the interior.

The Mercedes G-Class hasn’t seen much change in 40 years. At least, not on the outside. The current-gen model received a significant number of updates from the German automaker, making it more luxurious and comfortable that the model it replaced. This did not affect its legendary off-road capabilities. The SUV debuted in 2018 and new spy photos show Mercedes planning to make the SUV more luxurious and comfortable than its predecessor.

These spy photos show a pair AMG models with camouflage wraps covering their front and rear fascias. These are AMG models, as the side-exit exhaustpipes stick out in front of the rear wheels. We don’t expect any major changes to the engine, but there is no information. We do know that an all-electric G-Class will soon be available, so it might not be necessary to offer a hybrid.

Although the camouflage on the fascias does not appear to conceal anything extraordinary, Mercedes will likely update the grille and front bumpers. The lights are unchanged. Our spy photographers have confirmed that Mercedes covered the interior completely, which suggests that a new interior design could be on the horizon with the mid-cycle refresh. It’s not possible to see the interior in photos, so it’s hard to predict what changes we might see. It could use the S Class interior, which is becoming more popular in the Mercedes-Benz lineup.

Although it’s too soon to know when the G Class will be revealed, a reveal in the late 2022 or early twenty-23 seems most likely. It’s unlikely that the updated G Class or AMG model will arrive earlier than this year as both the G Class and AMG variants are still fresh. Mercedes did unveil the Concept earlier in the year, but Mercedes didn’t specify when it would be available for production. Mercedes could unveil the new G-Class along with the fully electric EQG.
