The standard model is approximately $1,450 less than the one that comes standard.
The Audi Q5 L will face stiff competition from the Mercedes-Benz GLC L, a long-wheelbase version of the premium German SUV. This model will only be available in China.
Engineers have increased the vehicle’s wheelbase by 100 millimeters (3.93 inches), giving the passengers at the back more leg room. The car’s overall length is now 4.76m (187.6ins), and its width is 1.89m (74.7ins). The standard GLC weighs in at 3,950 pounds (1.790 kilograms), so it is likely that the extended version is slightly heavier.
The GLC L looks exactly the same as the regular model, just like the other long-wheelbase versions available on the Chinese market. Only the rear doors are slightly longer, which slighty affects the overall proportions.
Everything is standard under the hood. The GLC in China is powered by three turbo-gas engines of 2.0-liters, the GLC 200L 4Matic and GLC 250L 4Matic. They generate 184 horsepower (137kilowatts), 245 HP (183 kW), and 211 hp respectively. A nine-speed automatic gearbox channels power to all four wheels.
GLC L will be offered by the German automaker for $1,450 less than its regular model. Beijing-Benz Motor Company will produce the long-wheelbase SUV. This joint venture is between Daimler Mercedes-Benz and local firm BAIC. On the same assembly line, the GLC and GLC L are manufactured.
The Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition will be the first public appearance of the new SUV.
