Mercedes GLE loses the Bouncy Suspension in The USA

Mercedes-Benz GLE has bounced back.

Because nobody bought the GLE SUV, one of its most distinctive options was dropped. That’s a shame. MotorTrend announced this morning that no Mercedes GLE will be equipped with the E-ABC (E-Active Body Control), which allows the SUV’s hydraulic suspension to bounce.

The E-ABC system does more than just keep vehicles straight when cornering. It also helps to distribute cargo and passengers evenly to prevent the vehicle from sagging. The Free Driving Assist mode allows you to bounce your Mercedes Benz SUV out of snow and sand. These situations can be very difficult and the bouncing can help you to get out of them. For safety reasons, the Free Drive Assist mode must be activated at a stationary position or at very low speeds. Mercedes-Benz doesn’t limit the area you can use this feature. This allows you to make some spectacular displays in parking lots. Mercedes-Benz appears to have taken advantage of the E-ABC-Free Drive Assist mode as entertainment. They even created a music video with it as a backup dancer.

MotorTrend was informed by Mercedes-Benz that E-ABC had been dropped from the SUV due to a low demand. The system is available as an option on the GLS-580 and standard on GLS 600 Maybach. If you are looking for a dance SUV, Mercedes-Benz will gladly sell one to you for a little more. Mercedes-Benz top-spec sedans can also get the E-ABC suspension system, but not the bouncing-free Driving Assist mode. Mercedes-Benz designed the bouncing suspension to be used off-road and not for display. It sounds like we are just a flashy ECU from the bouncing S Classes.
