Mercedes-Maybach S Class Spied All Exposed at The Nurburgring

Wow, what a long wheelbase!

A new Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan is coming. Camouflaged test cars have been seen for years. A teaser video shows us that the covers will be officially removed sometime in the second quarter of 2020. These prototypes of the car or cars you see will be available after this, since they are not simply S-Class Mercs. These are the most luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S-Class models.

We’re specifically interested in the long-wheelbase model. Automotive Michael on YouTube took the prototypes during a recent test session at the Nürnbergring. There’s no way to mistake these cars for flagship Maybachs, as they pass by the camera. There are several number plates seen whizzing around corners. At least one prototype is covered in boxy camo to indicate the electric pop-up handles that we have been anticipating.

The test cars still sport a lot of camouflage. However, we now have a better idea of what lies beneath. The standard Mercedes version has been revealed by leaks and teasers . The Maybach upfit will not stretch beyond that. While the W223 generation will look familiar, it adopts an evolutionary approach to its appearance. This includes minor changes to the body lines and fascias.

The Maybach will get new headlights and taillights to match the current Mercedes design principles. There will also be a larger grille. Although it won’t be BMW 4 Series large, you can expect a Maybach-exclusive design with vertical bars similar to what we see on the Maybach GLS.

In previous spy shots, we were able to see the interior of Maybach. Although much of the interior was still unfinished and covered, we were able to see the large center touchscreen. It will be integrated into an elegant central console. It is a design that’s similar to the VisionEQS concept vehicle. This will be the main access point for all high-tech features, both functional and luxurious.

The S-Class will debut later in the year, and coronavirus is delaying everything. It’s unlikely that we’ll see the flagship sedan before 2021.
