You have the option of a pull-out kitchen at the rear.
It is becoming more popular to convert the Mercedes-Benz Metris into an open-top camper with a pop-up roofing. The Metris Getaway is the latest to hit the market. It’s also available in Mercedes showrooms across the US.
Driverge Vehicle Innovations manages the conversion of the Getaway’s pop-up roof. The extra space in the upper area gives you more room to sleep. The rear bench can be folded flat to make another bed. Owners can use the central area of the lounge as a place to relax and unwind by turning the front seats.
We are now intensifying efforts to meet the U.S. demand with our Vito compact van and Sprinter large van. We are now partnering with Driverge to offer the Vito as a base vehicle for their camper van conversions. This positioning has been in use in Europe for some time and is a first for us here in the USA,” Klaus Rehkugler (Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Sales & Marketing), said.
Mercedes introduced the Metris Weekender, a factory-built version with a pop up roof. There is enough space to sleep four people in the lower section, and two more in the upper. There are three windows and a memory foam mattress measuring two inches thick. The upper section also has USB ports for charging devices. The rear bench folds up into a bed, just like the Metris Getaway.
The Backroad is a pop-up-roof Metris built by Caravan Outfitter. It is similar to the other models, with two sleeping areas in the upper and two in lower. The back has a kitchen with a refrigerator and propane-powered stovetop.
