This is one of only 30 examples.
You can own one of the most rare supercars ever made in the history and evolution of the automotive industry. In a moment, we’ll be discussing the price and other details of this particular example. But first, let us talk about the history of the Isdera Imperator 108i.
This supercar is German and was built on the aforementioned. Mercedes-Benz Concept powered by engines from Stuttgart. Eberhard Schulz, the designer for Mercedes’ original CW311 concept, created it in 1978. However, the automaker was not impressed by its design and decided to discontinue it.
The good German people gave Schulz permission to make it under their own brand, Isdera. In 1984, the first unit was assembled and production continued through 1993. There were 30 units produced. The one in the gallery is the last.
Schulz replaced the 1978 pop-up headlights with two fixed units for the Imperator 108i and used more Mercedes-sourced conventional taillights. The 1991 facelift saw the return of the pop-up headlights. Schulz redesigned the body to make it more curvaceous.
The Imperator 108i had a variety of engines available during its nine-year production run. All were sourced from Mercedes and featured eight cylinders. This particular example features a 5.0-liter V8 that is mated with a ZF five-speed gearbox, sending power to the rear axle. This combination was capable of acceleration from 0-60 miles per an hour (0-97 km/h) in 5.0 seconds, and a top speed at 176 mph (283 Kph).
What about the price? The silver Imperator 108i will go up for auction during Bonhams Monaco Sale. It is expected to fetch between EUR500,000 to EUR700,000. That’s roughly $590,000 and $830,000 at current rates.
