You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You won’t use valet again.
Here’s a fun way to say goodbye winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Mercedes-Benz is a funny, short video company that has been tackling a wide range of subjects. We are treated to a 2-minute advertisement for the sedan. However, you won’t notice it until around 1:30. It’s fine, you’ll smile all the way to the end.
Your smile could have many reasons. The Valet Guys video shows the hilarious misadventures and mishaps of three valet drivers who enjoy having fun in customer cars. By fun, we mean handbrake turns and burnouts as well as J-turns. There’s also a classic Ford Mustang in the clip.
Apart from Ace, Freddy, Rusty and Ace, however, the real stars of this video are the plethora cool Benzes that have been around since years past. They are certainly smile-worthy. While we won’t spoil the fun of trying to identify every car in the video, we will say this about Mercedes: they know how to treat their customers. This is evident in the first 8 seconds when we see a W202 C-Class handbraked into a spot.
The W202 does not have a handbrake. Don’t worry, this is where the true hat tip to enthusiasts comes in. Mercedes adds a video caption to the slide, saying that although we know the car has a foot pedal and a parking brake, it looks great in this film. Mercedes, it works! Well done.
The new S-Class finally appears, but it isn’t stopping at the valet station. This is when the true message of the video comes out – reminding us all that the flagship sedan will feature a self-parking function “as soon regulations and infrastructure permit.” This is what is happening with many of the autonomous tech being offered by automakers. But the message is simple.
Take heed, valet guys. Your days of reckless adventures may be over.
