Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing more details and teaser photos released

The official photos and details of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing are now available. We are hoping that the exterior will be as beautiful as the interior.

New photos and details about the 2010 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Gullwing are now available. It is expected that the car will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September, with a EUR150,000 price tag.
Auto Motor und Sport was told by one of the car’s creators that they would benefit from the company’s history while modernizing as much possible. The car is reminiscent of the 1954 Mercedes 300 SL’s roof-hinged doors. “…There must be a modern and completely subscribed purist view of a sports car in the 21st Century,” the designer said to the magazine.
Hartmut Sinkwitz, who was formerly the head of design at Smart, stated that “the proportions should not be inconsistent.” He designed a long hood and seated the cab on the rear axle.

Instead of being reduced for weight, the interior design was fully updated to reflect an airplane’s inspiration. The infotainment system is fully featured and sits in the center. Below, you will find the stereo, Bluetooth and climate control controls, as well as the shifter, which are surrounded by aluminum or carbon fiber trim. The aluminum pedals match the metal used for the vents and gauges, the steering wheel, and the rings surrounding the controls. The multi-function wheel has two gauges, and a computer display between them. You can choose from at least five colors for leather sports seats. Sinkwitz comments on the exterior: “…we have designed an extra steep, angled A-pillar to allow the driver to see everything.” The 1.08m tall vehicle can be accessed through the gullwing doors, which open at 70 degrees.

A 571 HP V8 engine will power the front-engined vehicle, producing up to 651 Nm of torque. Electronically, the top speed is limited to 315 km/h (196 MPH). The driver controls the engine via the seven speed dual-clutch gearbox.
