To add more off-road capability, a full-time all wheel-drive system is available to replace the existing part-time setup.
The best thing about camping is being able to enjoy the outdoors. German RV manufacturer La Strada has launched the Regent S, which rides on the 4×4 sprinter chassis.
The Sprinter comes standard with a partial four-wheel-drive system. However, La Strada has partnered with an Austrian company in order to offer full-time all-wheel-drive. You can add more off-road capability with a low-range transmission case, locking differentials and all-terrain tires. A suspension that is higher than the rest by 4.33 inches (110 mm) frontally and 3.15 inches (8 mm backwards) rearly makes it easier to climb over rough terrain.
Two engine options are available to buyers. A 2.2-liter turbodiesel with 161 horsepower (120 megawatts) is the base powerplant. Customers have the option to upgrade to a 3.0-liter turbodiesel generating 188 horsepower (140 kW).
Camper buyers want to be able drive their RV comfortably over long distances. La Strada helps them achieve this goal by keeping the Sprinter’s advanced driver aid features like adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance.
The Regent S has seating for four. However, there is only one double bed so that two people can sleep outside. An optional additional bed is available. A small fridge and three-burner stove are also included in the cabin’s kitchenette. The wet bathroom layout combines the toilet, sink and shower into one space. A shower is available outside so people can enjoy the outdoors and get clean.
The price of the Regent S 4WD is 80,265 Euros ($91,718 at current exchange rate), but there are many options to make it significantly more expensive. While many upgrades can be as simple as new wheel designs or towbars, there are functional improvements such automatic climate control and larger fuel tanks.
