The project is being supported by the powertrain division of Mercedes F1 Team.

The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXXX is the brand’s upcoming concept. It aims to push the limits of range using technology that is designed for production. Although the teaser is only a small glimpse of what’s inside, it’s clear that the concept looks amazing.

Mercedes claims the Vision EQXXX can travel over 621.4 miles (1,099 km) per charge. According to Mercedes, it is not simply going to install a huge battery to reach this distance. The model is equipped with the same battery that will be used in a future compact car. Mercedes plans to increase the energy density of the battery by 20% over the EQS. According to the EQXX, it will cover more than 6 miles per kilowatt hour of energy from the battery. This number is quite impressive, according to Within EVs. Given the expected range and efficiency of the battery, we can estimate that the battery’s capacity is around 104 kWh. The company also wants the body to be very slippery in the air. The company aims to have a drag coefficient of 0.20 or better, which is the EQS.

Teaser images show that the EQXXX is a sedan with low-slung lines and gentle curves. This makes sense due to its efficiency goals. The vehicle is quite large and looks at least as big, if not more, than a Tesla Model S.  Although all of these claims sound lofty, Mercedes promises to demonstrate the figures next year. Mercedes-AMG Formula One team has supported the creation of the machine by a multi-disciplinary team. Mercedes doesn’t plan to put the Vision EQXX into production. Mercedes plans to use these innovations in future electric vehicles.
