This is an intimate, unique piece of Ferrari’s Formula 1 heritage.
Remember when Ferrari was dominant in Formula 1. The Scuderia enjoyed a stellar driver line-up and the affection of its fans around the globe in the 2000s. The world has changed dramatically over the past few years. However, an interesting piece of memorabilia ( , sort of ) is available for sale that brings us back to the beginning century and Ferrari’s unparalleled success.
Bonhams will auction the Iveco Ferrari official team bus, which was used by the Italian team from 2001 to 2005, at its Paris auction on February 8. It was used by Michael Schumacher, seven-time world champion, and Rubens Barrichello, his teammate.
The Iveco was converted from a bus to a luxury motor home. It rides on air suspension and is powered by a 380-horsepower (283 kilowatts diesel engine) which is paired with an eight-speed ZF gearbox. The vehicle originally featured two apartments that could be used as a physiotherapy table or TV room.
The second owner of the bus ordered a complete conversion to make it the ultimate motor home. The entire electrical system was replaced and upgraded. The bus now has a full bathroom with ceramic lavatory and independent heating and cooling systems. It also has an onboard 220-volt diesel generator. A Bose home theatre system and a Hastens Luxuria twin bed.
To prove that this vehicle is authentic, Stefano Domenicali, team principal, signed a Ferrari Certificate of Authenticity. The documentation includes a UK V5C Registration Certificate and various expired MoT certificates. There are also different invoices related to the motorhome conversion.
The bus has covered less than 60,000 km (90,000 miles) and is “maintained without cost”. It will be selling for EUR125,000 to EUR150,000, or approximately $155,000 to $186,000 depending on current exchange rates.
