There are a bazillion ways that the internet can be used for good. What do people do?
Internet nerd rage strikes back again, this time against Dealers host Mike Brewer, who has reportedly received death threats in relation to the entire saga with Edd China. Death threats. A freaking television program. Brewer was not the only one who is being abused by “fans”. He also apparently said that China was being abused by his wife and daughter. Keep it classy, internet.
China announced recently that he would be leaving his role as co-host on Wheeler dealers after 13 years. China stated that he was not happy with the direction the show was going under Velocity Channel’s guidance. According to reports, the new management wants less focus on repair segments which are apparently quite costly to produce. China, the show’s resident mechanic resisted the arrangement and decided to leave.
It’s a sad day for the fans who loved the chemistry between them, but China was extremely respectful and positive in his announcement of his departure. Even his most recent video, which suggests some ill feelings between him and Brewer about the situation, takes a far more difficult road than some show-goers may be able to follow.
“Is Mike (Mike), my favorite person right at the moment? China said in the video that “probably not”. “And I know that I am not his. That’s okay, we are both adults and will get over ourselves. We will get over this and be okay.”
He also made it clear that they are still friends and that any abuse towards his former host and family, including death threats, is completely unacceptable.
The Wheeler Dealers fan base would think that Brewer should have taken a stand against China regarding the show’s new direction. The truth is that nobody except China and Brewer knows the details of what actually happened. It doesn’t matter because the death threats made against Brewer and his family by lobbing them death threats are ridiculous, immature and cowardly.
While we will miss Edd China from Wheeler Deals, if you aren’t enraged enough about a television program to resort to death threats, then you have far greater problems in your own life.
