It features air-ride suspension and massaging seats.
Last week saw a preview from Mil-Spec Automotive’s new take on the HumVee. With its Launch Edition in May, the company made its debut on the market. Now, the company’s second vehicle, the first one to be delivered by customers, is complete. It looks great.
MSA states that the H1 is a custom-built creation, built specifically for one customer and equipped according to their specifications. The SUV’s suspension system, which was specially designed for air-ride, has seven inches of adjustability. MSA says 002 can ride high or low depending on the driver’s needs. It also adds comfort to the Hummer’s notoriously rough-riding Hummer.
The customer also requested air-ride seating to dampen the underside forces. These seats also have heating/cooling and massage functions. This could be the most comfortable H1 ever. Mil-Spec doesn’t know if all the seats receive the same treatment, or only the front two. But it’s certainly an extravagant level of luxury that you wouldn’t expect from this black-clad beast.
The customer requested black, lots black. The interior has black leather and the slant-back design was given a matte Kevlar texture. The hardware received a black powdercoat treatment and the exterior is as black as Johnny Cash’s closet.
MSA does not discuss the powertrain except for the suspension bits that are required to support the air ride configuration. The launch vehicle was powered by a Duramax Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel engine V8 that produced 500 horsepower (373 Kilowatts) as well as a full 1,000 pound (1,356 Newton-meters). We’ll assume that 002 is a continuation of the launch vehicle. It should be able to withstand its sinister appearance with a lot of bite.
Mil-Spec can build a similar truck for you if you ask. It costs $290,837.
