The HumVee, a HumVee with 800-horsepower, doesn’t climb into canyons; it cuts them.

Although the fish-out-of water story is as clichéd as it gets, it works every time. This massive Hummer H1 from MilSpec Automotive was built originally to climb high buildings and wade through water up to three feet deep. It’s a lightweight, torque-oriented diesel engine that weighs slightly less than a 747. However, it’s still not the perfect track-day machine – except where portions of the Grand Canyon cross the back straight.

Although Mil-Spec’s H1 (affectionately known as the Track Titan), isn’t exactly what you would call a ideal track-day dominateor, it’s still a significant modification. You’d be surprised at how much it is better than you think. It has coilovers and is lowered seven inches, which is more than the totalsuspension travel for most passenger cars.

The chassis is reinforced with six-piston Wilwood brakes and an upgraded ARB Air locking differential. It also has fat, low-profile Pirelli tires. The Duramax diesel engine, a 6.6-liter version with 800 horsepower (597 kilowatts) is under the hood. It also produces an incredible amount of torque. The stage 5 Allison 1000 transmission handles it all. It still has all-wheel drive capabilities, but the locking diff can cause some sideways tomfoolery.

Ian Broekman, Mil-Spec’s founder, spoke to us about the epic creation. He reminded us that the original H1 used a lot of aluminum and had a good weight distribution – which was great for stability on rough terrain. The Track Titan’s weight is unknown. However, it should be in the same range as the Lamborghini Urus. So, it’s really not that heavy. The H1’s four wheel independent suspension is also available, but it wasn’t offered on a Ford Mustang until recently.

This is not a vehicle that can be purchased by those who dream of owning a Track Titan. Although the company is continuing to place customer orders for its traditional H1 builds and is making progress, now that we have seen how far Mil-Spec can go, we are very curious to see what else they have in the pipeline.
