This Mini has a bed that sleeps two and a bathroom.
Brycen McCright’s Mini Clubman camper is probably the most unique you’ll ever see. It’s also a really cool rig. This isn’t just a car to show off. McCright and his girlfriend often take the little wagon on camping trips into Colorado’s wilderness with them.
McCright immediately asks why he chose this camper, a Mini-based custom vehicle. Like many other questions, the answer is simple. This is the car that McCright has at his disposal. McCright purchased the Mini but soon became interested in camping. The Mini wagon was not capable of going off-road.
“I planned to sell my Mini Cooper and buy a 4×4 immediately. This is what I should have done many months ago. It turned out that no one wanted a Colorado-based Mini Cooper. McCright explained to Motor1.com that buying another vehicle was not an option.
He is a graphic designer at Elite Auto Salon which specializes in vehicle tuning. McCright began to discuss the project with two master fabricators at the shop, and he created what he calls the Mini Prowler.
First, we installed a 2-inch suspension lift to increase the Clubman’s ground clearance. Two inches was added to the wheel and tire clearance by changing them out. McCright stated that “Because it was now possible to take minor jeep road and mountain passes, our tent was always right next to the Mini Prowler.”
The Prowler received a major interior renovation: a bed. McCright and his girlfriend can now drive to a campsite to sleep in it. It’s easy to transport a tent. McCright now has an interior occupied. He has a lot of racks and mounts that allow him to carry “two paddleboards or one kayak, a mountainbike, and five nights of camping gear all at the same time.”
Recent updates include the camouflaged wrap, and fender flares. McCright created the camo pattern.
McCright now has a unique camping rig that suits his needs after all the work. It is an ongoing project. However, production has slowed down due to life events. That is okay. He told Motor1.com that he loves her. It is easy to see why this tiny machine inspires so much admiration.
