The S variant may come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine of 302 horsepower.

A new Mini Countryman is in development. And a video shows the S variant of the Mini Countryman at the Nurburgring. The Mini Countryman still sports a thick layer of camouflage, cladding, and the new Mini seems to be an evolution of the existing model.

The CarSpyMedia YouTube channel has the video of the car racing around the track, with its tires squealing. The car’s powerful powertrain is revealed by the quad exhaust pipes that stick out of the rear. The front fascia design is obscured by camouflaging and cladding. However, we can still see Mini’s distinctive circular headlights at the ends of the nose. The rear-end design is difficult to understand.
Mini Countryman S Spied On Video Being Pushed Hard At NurburgringMini will place the new Countryman under the FAAR platform. This platform supports the new BMW X1 cross-over. The powertrain information for the Mini Countryman S is still unknown. However, it is believed that the Mini will share a powertrain with BMW X1 M35i. This means that the Mini will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 302 horsepower (2225 kilowatts) as well as 450 pound-feet (332 Nms) of torque.

We expect MINI to have a lower-powered powertrain option. Rumours suggest that an plug-in hybrid with a turbocharged 1.5L engine and electricity will be available. It would produce 322 horsepower (237 kW) According to rumours, the plug-in could provide an estimated 55 mile (88 km) of electric range.

Although the video does not show the Mini’s interior, prior spy shots showed it. The interior was familiar, with an oval driver display mounted behind the wheel and a circular screen mounted on top of the dash. Mini did more than hide it from curious eye, however.

Mini has not yet announced the debut date for the refreshed Countryman, so it is anyone’s guess when it will arrive. Rumours suggest that the refreshed model will go on sale in the first quarter of next year. This could mean it could debut before 2022 ends, although the auto industry is unpredictable over the past few years. We hope that the Mini will begin to use camouflage before its unveiling.
