It is expected that it will take at most a few months.
Toyota acknowledged earlier this month that its sales of cars with manual gearboxes is far from great. A few days later Hyundai decided to remove the manual option from the Elantra due to declining stick-shift car demand. The manual transmission is now taking another hit. Mini has temporarily stopped selling three-pedal Elantra models in the United States.
MotoringLife says the company delayed in calibrating the cars. This is currently happening. Mini will cease importing manual transmission cars from its entire range of vehicles starting July 2011. Andrew Cutler, the head of Mini Communications USA, confirmed the publication.
One big question is needed here: How long before Mini offers cars with manual transmissions again. An estimate is that it will take between one to four months. However, this assumption is based on past delays. Mini’s answer? Mini USA’s answer?
Not all models will be able to use the manual option. This is a sad fact. There is no way to confirm the identity of these vehicles.
Positive news is that the Cooper S and Cooper S models will finally get a dual-clutch transmission in July. The JCW Clubman, Countryman models will get a revised 8-speed automatic.
A September 2018 report by the same publication stated that Mini could end the two-door hardtop version before the end of the current model’s life span. Mini fans will be disappointed to hear that some models have lost the manual option. You can take the other report with a grain-of-salt for now, though.
