Cooper, Mini Cooper.
James Bond is often seen in a vehicle that’s either an Aston Martin or Lotus. Sometimes, he may even be accompanied by a BMW. All of these vehicles are adorned with bizarre gadgets. Imagine if one of those cars was a MINI. You need not wonder any more as David Brown Automotive, the experts in Mini restoration, has taken inspiration from Bond’s Lotus Esprit Turbo, seen in the 1981 film .
DB Automotive did a great job matching the Esprit’s paint colors to the exterior of the car. The copper glow exterior is beautifully enhanced by the hand-painted turbo graphics in sahara golden turbo. Although they were designed to match the paint colors, Mini masters took creative liberties when creating the exterior aesthetic. To emphasize the copper and gold colors on the body, the roof and wheel arches were black. Although the Mini’s 13-inch wheels are custom-sized, they are also painted in the same color as the graphics.
Except for updates to the front lights, the car’s front fascia is unchanged. The Mini’s classic design has been preserved, but the front headlights and triple Cibie auxiliary lights have been replaced with LEDs. This vehicle is beautiful and capable, even though it may look like a show car.
The Bond Mini’s interior is just as impressive as its exterior. The exterior features include a panoramic sunroof that opens to reveal a mini retreat. It also has a wood veneer dash in Dark American Burr Walnut and a gloss lacquer to distribute sunlight throughout the year. Other interior features include an LED backlit gauge, a touchscreen Apple CarPlay infotainment device (7-inch), and a six speaker stereo.
We love this Bond-inspired Mini. Let us know your favourite features in the comments below.
