This is the last chance for BMW’s naturally-aspirated V8 engine in a Morgan.
The 2018 Geneva Motor Show will see the debut of the Aero GT. It marks the end for BMW’s N62 naturally aspirated V8 engines in a motor. Only eight units will be made. The cars will be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission that sends 367 horsepower and 502 Newton-meters (502 Newton-meters), to the rear wheels. This allows the special edition to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in just four and a quarter seconds, before reaching 170 mph (273 km/h).
As each car is unique, there won’t be any two identical cars. Each one will be built to customer’s specifications and take between 8-10 weeks to complete. This special edition is also a final hurrah of the Aero 8. It has special bodywork that maximizes aero and boosts performance. The buyers will have the option to choose a carbon fiber hardtop with an integrated rear-facing vent.
Although the Aero GT is a nod back to the past, it features Morgan’s latest innovations in adjustable suspensions. The classic lines of the Aero GT have been optimized with Computation Fluid Dynamics simulation. Each body panel is finished by hand and the car only weighs 1,182 kilograms (2.605 pounds).
The lovely enameled “GT” badges were created by a British jeweler. The interior cabin, which has painted stitching and pinstripe accents, was also manually finished and may optionally have a wood trim.
Price? Morgan is asking for a cool PS120,000 plus local taxes, which amounts to approximately $166,000 at current exchange rate. The Aero GT is currently in Switzerland, sharing the spotlight at Geneva Motor Show with the Plus8 50 anniversary, another model that features the naturally aspirated V8 from BMW.
