To celebrate Morgan’s cars, British company Pashley hand-builds bicycles.
British sports car manufacturer Motor collaborated with Pashley to design two concept bikes, both based on the car maker’s products.
Each bike is hand-built, with the Morgan 8 model sporting a subtle grey livery that Morgan claims was inspired by his racing heritage. Morgan handcrafted the chainguard and mudguard from black ashwood. The black leather grips feature an aluminium end cap based on Morgan switchgear.
Morgan 3 is finished in traditional British Racing Green with honey leather grips, walnut mudguards, and walnut mudguards. The Morgan 8 has eight ratios, but the Morgan 3 only uses three.
The bikes have a tubular, slim frame and prominent S-bend seats stays.
Morgan dealers can sell the bikes at a cost of PS1,495 ($1,907 at current currency rates), and the 8 at PS1,595 ($2,034).
Pashley Cycles’ managing director Adrian Williams said that Pashley is often called the “Morgan of the bicycle industry”. He added, “People often refer Pashley to Pashley as the Morgan of the bike world.” I’m delighted that there has been a close collaboration between the two companies, which can be seen in the Pashley-Morgan range. The beautiful bikes we made show that Pashley and Morgan have many commonalities, including their unrivalled heritage, design innovation, and British craftsmanship. These bikes will appeal to Morgan car-owners and discerning cyclists.
Jonathan Wells, Morgan’s head of design, said: “The Morgan craftsmen and women work hard to accurately reflect our brand values in every product we produce. Collaboration with other craftspeople from different industries is the best way to explore new markets and product avenues. It was logical to work with Pashley on a collaborative project.
