For the test, our Turkish colleagues used a 1.5-liter diesel engine. The unit produces 120 horsepower (90 kilowatts), and 221 pound feet (300 Newton-meters), of torque. It is driven by a six-speed manual transmission. The particular unit weighs in at 3,395 pounds (1.540 kilograms). It rides on 18-inch wheels and Bridgestone TuranzaT005s tires in 245/45 sizes. The test air temperature was 95°F (35°C).

The Insignia was able to maintain a very stable speed of 48 mph (78 km/h) during the test. This was actually more than our colleagues had expected. With very little input from the electronic stabilization system, the D-segment liftback was safe. Surprisingly the car remained stable at 50 mph (80 kph), despite the fact that the ESP was activated earlier.
