This Discovery is easily recognisable from a glance and will serve as the production vehicle for our Italian team of video editors. The Discovery even has a launch pad to allow us to fly our drones from it!
The SUV’s status has changed from Sport Utility to Utility Vehicle. It’s the Land Rover Discovery that has been made the official vehicle of Motor1.com Italia.
The Discovery was not selected randomly; it is one of the most versatile models within the Land Rover line and our Italian colleagues turned it into a tool for video production that will be supported their YouTube channel.
It will be easy to recognize it in Italy thanks to the special wrap that was created for her. You can see it live in Milan at MiMo (June 10-13). It will be at Piazza San Carlo, Stand 80.
Designer wrap
The Discovery has a custom wrap that was designed by Garage. DSW wrapping experts took care of the installation.
Garage Italia was inspired by our logo and used the colors white, electric blue, and matte black. This latter color plays an important role because it can be combined with other tones to create visual dynamism for the “camouflage effect”.
The rear is fully colored in light blue, with metallic touches. As the camouflage pattern creates an optical effect when the car moves, it takes over the wheel arches as well as the hood. The large Motor1.com logo is prominently displayed on the front doors. It can be found under the mirrors.
Three layers of micro-channeled film were required for wrapping the Discovery. The first layer was completely black and the subsequent layers included elements in gloss and matte. A total of 45 square feet was needed for the film.
Preparing for shooting
One unique feature is the modular platform that can be used to land drones on the roof. It was created and designed by DJI with the collaboration of Naital.
Our Discovery is built on the standard S model. It features the 3 liter (649 horsepower) six-cylinder (D250 mild hybrid). This transmits power to an automated transmission, which then distributes it via an all-wheel drive system. However, the configuration was modified to meet our operational needs.
These are some accessories that we selected:
Trailer hitch that can be removed electrically and has advanced reverse assistance
Gears reduced
Heated windshield
On-board Wi-Fi
Four-zone climate control
Cabin ionization with PM2.5 filter
The Milano Monza Show will end with the first field test. We’ll share our impressions and backstage videos as soon as we can.
