But is performance worth the price?
Ford unveiled the Mustang 2.0L High Performance Package earlier this year. Although the name isn’t easy to pronounce, there are rumors that Dearborn’s automaker could bring back the SVO nameplate. However, we digress. CarsDirect.com has just released the latest pricing information for the 2020 Ford Mustang 2.3L Enhanced Performance Package. It’s quite expensive. Packages start at $4,995, which brings the total price up to $32,760. This includes the destination fee.
The Mustang gets 20 horsepower more–now with the 330 engine–but not more torque. It remains at 350 pound feet (475 Newton-meters) of torque). It’s not just the price. The High Performance Package adds an upgraded suspension and aerodynamics (from the Mustang GT) and a tuned quad tip exhaust.
Ford claims that the EcoBoost Mustang can go from 0 to 60 mph in a range of between four and five seconds. This is not a lot of power, but Ford claims the upgraded EcoBoost Mustang has a wider torque curve than the standard EcoBoost engine. It’s also 40 percent wider
The new optional handling package increases the price by $1,995 but requires that you purchase the $2,000 Equipment Group 101A bundle. Exclusive to EcoBoost Mustangs equipped with the High Performance pack, the handling pack adds 19-inch aluminum wheels with Pirelli P Zero summer tires, MagneRide damping, and a rear swing bar. The High Performance EcoBoost Mustang is $30 less than the 460-horsepower 2020 Mustang GT.
The Mustang 2.3L High Performance package has made it a little more difficult to choose the right Mustang. The entry-level Mustang GT’s $32,760 price tag is just a stone’s throw away, but it would be hard to not spend a little more for the 5.0-liter Coyote engine and its 460 horsepower. We will not make those difficult decisions for you.
