Which supercharged muscle car wins?
What does the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger share in common? They’re all muscle car that are very popular in straight-line races across North America.
What happens when they visit UK’s Carwow? We have a drag race and that’s exactly what we have. These aren’t stock examples. Each of these are tuned and supercharged to eject all eight cylinders with power and torque.
These three are pretty close in numbers, but let’s first look at the numbers to see how similar these heavy-hitters are in black-and white.
It is called the King Cobra by its owner Mustang. It produces 735 horsepower (548 Kilowatts) as well as 509 pound-feet (690 Newton meters) of torque. This information is sent to the rear wheels by a six speed automatic gearbox. It is quite heavy at 3,913 pounds (1.775 kg).
The Challenger RT Scat Pack produces 650 horsepower (485 kW) as well as 443 lbft (600 Nm). It is also rear-wheel-drive and weighs in at 4,189 lbs (1.900 kg).
The supercharged Camaro has the same engine output of the Challenger. It is the lightest of all three, weighing in at 3,651 lbs (1.656 kg).
Although the Mustang is the most powerful, it’s also significantly heavier than the Camaro. The Challenger is quite small compared to the other two. With the same power as Camaro, I doubt you are counting on it winning. Which of the Chevy and Ford won the race? Check out the video above and comment below.
