Mustang Shelby GT350 Shooting Brake Resurrection in New Rendering

All awesome.

Ford Mustang shooting brakes are not a new idea. There have been many custom creations over the years that focus on Ford Mustangs of the first generation. Ford has never offered such an option from the factory. To our knowledge, no one has attempted the long roof treatment with a current-generation S550 Mustang. We wish someone would try this challenge after watching the Sketch Monkey video.

This rendering is not just for Mustangs. The Shelby GT350 corner-carving is brought out of retirement to be reborn as an shooting brake. We think it would be a good rebirth. Ford wouldn’t do this and it’s understandable. The market for such cars is very small and the cost of creating a new unibody to make a small number of units is prohibitive. This is why such a move would need to be made in the aftermarket. However, this video gives some great motivation to make it happen.

Although the conversion looks simple, it’s not difficult at all. This interpretation preserves the roof’s height, rather than adopting a sloped shape like the Dodge Magnum. Mustang conversions. The roof is not just stretched. However, the S550’s taillights, and upper fascia, have a very dramatic angle. To make sure the lines match up, this renders the backside slightly. The Shelby GT350 Shooting Brake has been completed with GT350R wheels and some shading. We prefer to use the shooting brake classification here. It’s a two-door long roof with more space between front arch and door than the rear arch. We are not happy with the Mustang’s spacing, but we do hope that someone will take up the cause and get a real-life S550. We need more long roof love in this life.
