Zoinks! This is so much fun.
The live-action Scooby-Doo movie from the 2000s saw the Mystery Machine transform from a cartoon into a real-life character. To celebrate the release of the first movie in theaters in 2002, the studio offers a chance for you to stay in the iconic TV vehicle. As the movie marks its 20th anniversary, it has been transformed into an Airbnb by Scooby-Doo veteran Matthew Lillard.
Scooby-Doo lovers will recognize this name. Lillard played Shaggy in the live action movie. He also assumed the role of Shaggy in animated TV movies in 2010, following in the footsteps of Casey Kasem, who was the voice actor for the character.
This converted Chevy van has been transformed into an AirBnB. It looks just like the real deal thanks to its iconic teal, orange and green livery, which the Mystery Machine has worn for many decades. There are no Scooby Snacks inside, but there’s a bed for two and other novelty touches that will take you back at least to 2002, when the first Scooby-Doomovie was released. A CD player holds a Sugar Ray album, and there’s even a lava lamp to help set the mood.
All-you-can-eat snacks will be available to guests, including Scooby and Shaggy’s favorite dishes like eggplant burgers. A late-night re-watch will be held of 2002’s Scooby-Doo. Popcorn and candy will be provided. You can spread out by using the lounge seating or a hammock. Lillard will greet you upon your arrival.
The Mystery Machine will be available only for three night stays beginning June 24. Campers will need to pay $20 per night plus any taxes and fees. You’ll need to act quickly if you want to spend the night in the Mystery Machine. Book your reservation by Thursday, June 16th at 1 p.m. ET. After these three nights, the van is no longer available. It is a great way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film. If you are fortunate enough to book a hotel stay, you will need to arrange your travel to Southern California.
