NACTOY Announces That 38 Vehicles are Eligible for The 2022 Awards
This field includes 18 SUVs, crossovers, 12 cars and eight trucks.
This January, the 2022 North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards, will announce the winners in each category. To select winners, you need a list of candidates, so NACTOY today announced the eligible makes and models for this award season. There are 12 cars, 18 crossovers and 8 trucks among the candidates, as well as a mix from established and new automakers.
Gary Witzenburg, President of NACTOY, stated that 2022 will be a year filled with electric vehicles and new makers. This makes it exciting and hard to predict. There will be at most nine fully-electric models competing this year, as well as newcomers like Lucid, Rivian and Karma. There are a number of new pickups this year that do not include the Ram 1500 or Chevy Silverado. The Ford Maverick, Hyundai Santa Cruz and the Ford Maverick are two of the new compact offerings in the lineup. Both are the result a growing truck market.
The semifinalists will be chosen by jurors. They will then be announced in September. NACTOY will announce finalists in November, before announcing which makes and models were winners next January.
