What is that doing there?
Although the new Acura Integra may share some similarities with the Honda Civic’s underpinnings, the automaker made steps to distinguish the two. The Integra is distinctive in styling and has a modified chassis. There are also other improvements that make it stand out. Despite all the changes Acura engineers made, some things were left as they are.
HondaProJason posted a new Instagram video that shows one of the most overlooked Honda attributes in the Integra. It is the Civic’s Easter Egg. The 10th-generation Civic featured unique Easter eggs that depict Honda’s history. The 11th-generation Civic also has an Easter egg, which depicts a 1970s-era Civic.
The Acura also has the same Easter egg as the video. Jason grabs the mat from the console’s center console and flips it. The boxy Civic hatch is revealed underneath. Acura made sure to surround the Integra with high-quality materials and a high quality fit and finish.
The Civic-branded center console mat does not detract from the many other changes engineers made to make Acura its own vehicle. Acura borrows from Honda’s sportier styling to make the car look more sporty than the Civic si. Acura also modified the steering ratio.
The powertrain was also unchanged, with the Integra receiving the Si’s turbocharged 1.5 liter four-cylinder engine. The engine produces the same 200 horsepower (150 Kilowatts) as well as 192 pound-feet (261 Newton-meters). You can choose between a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT.
For years, automakers have hidden Easter eggs in their vehicles with adorable callbacks and other nods towards their history. Automakers sometimes troll other people, as the TRX did for the F-150 Raptor. Honda has done this before and it’s likely that we’ll see another Easter Egg in 12th-generation Civic.
