Acura claims that the renderings are conceptual but could very closely match the production models.
There are many ways that new model leaks can occur, but we don’t know if we’ve ever seen one like this. A member of AcuraZine, who goes by the forum name .god posted some interesting images that show the upcoming MDX redesign. This could be for the 2020 model year. The post also contains images of the next Acura sedan. These are vehicles we expect to arrive in 2021, but some intriguing renderings of interior items as well as possible options.
These photos are from where? This is the most interesting part. The person bought a new Acura RX crossover and then did some research in the software suite. These are not things that you will just stumble upon when you push buttons. The thread says that someone found technical-sounding files, and loaded them into the Android developer toolkit. Although we don’t know much computer-ese, the bottom line is it took extra steps to find these photos. Are they real?
The MDX photos and our spy shots (above) seem to be in good agreement. The TLX (below) is not comparable to our spy photos, but the leaked image bears a striking resemblance. We like what we see and we trust these to be the real deal.
However, to further answer that question, we shot a quick message to Acura. It seems strange that images of future products would wind up buried in software for vehicles currently on sale, but a spokesperson for the automaker offered a clear, logical, and surprisingly upbeat explanation.
These images are, therefore, conceptualized. It remains to be determined if they will translate into production vehicles directly or partially.
