The camo conceals a redesign front fascia.
The big SUV from BMW began rolling into driveways in 2019 model year. But, its appearance will soon change. The X7 will be getting a minor makeover to prepare for the mid-cycle refresh. It could also make significant changes to its front fascia. As the SUV was returning to its test facility, the spy photos show that the SUV is still hiding the fascias. However, we can see the new headlights.
The model’s new front end design was revealed in spy photos. It appears to have a split-headlight appearance. Recent photos show that the headlights are now illuminated and sit lower than ever on the SUV’s front. Although the prominent grille appears unchanged, it could be subject to some tweaks. We can only guess what changes the rest of the fascia will receive. It hides behind swirly camouflage so we don’t know how it will change. Although camouflaged at the rear, it doesn’t seem to conceal any major styling changes.
Mid-cycle facelifts seldom touch the powertrain situation. However, rumors suggest that BMW may change a few things like dropping the M50d diesel with quad-turbocharged engine for the M45e plug in hybrid. BMW has not yet confirmed any changes. Other engine options could be subject to minor modifications that improve efficiency or produce a little more power. The lineup can be left unchanged.
Although it is unclear how much the X7’s new styling cues can be incorporated into the BMW lineup of products, we don’t think the split-headlight design will be too different from the large SUV. Although there is speculation that the brand plans to redesign its entire SUV line-up, the new headlight design is not expected on them. The design could be transferred to the 7 Series or i7 to create a new type of corporate cohesion. The new X7 will be available in the second quarter next year.
