The Competition version will be even more popular.
Coincidentally, the original BMW X5M was unveiled back in April 2009, along with the more sleek X6M. The third-generation SUV was spotted at the Nürnbergring, looking ready to shed the camouflage to show off the production body.
We believe that the X5M is getting closer to its world reveal. The prototype had M quad exhausts, large wheels and skinny tires. It is possible that the interior may not be as production-spec, but the console seems to have a red emergency button for in the event of an unfortunate accident. This is still our favorite look at the beefy SUV. The car comes with large brakes and a rear spoiler that is roof-mounted.
The familiar twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8 engine will power the new BMW X5 M. It is standardly connected to an xDrive layout as well as an eight-speed auto transmission. All of this was adapted from the M5. It should be about the same power output as the sedan. Expect 600 hp (750 Nm) and 553 lbft (553 lbft).
If that is not enough power to satisfy your hunger, BMW will sell an X5 Competition with more power in the same vein of the HTML5 Competition. The sedan’s power output is 617 horsepower, with the same amount torque. However, the rpm range is broader. We’ll see some upgrades on the M5 Competition, including stiffer engine mounts and lowered suspension. The dampers have been updated, stiffer sway bars, and updated dampers. The M5 Competition also features minor visual upgrades to complement these mechanical improvements.
After being announced a few months ago, the X5 M & X6 M are no more the only M-badged SUVs in BMW’s portfolio. The X3 M and the X4 M will be joining the 2020MY lineup.
