It will not be available for purchase until 2023, in the fall.
In January, Chevrolet shocked the world by partially unveiling electric versions of the Equinox as well as the Blazer. The Equinox EV was shown in renderings, with a digital interior. Chevrolet now offers a teaser video showing the dash up close.
The video starts with a close-up view of one of the turbine-style, round climate control vents at the corners of dash. The footage then shifts to the middle console. It shows a large cupholder and a bank controls at the base. The dial is round with buttons in its middle. This layout is common with Chevrolet vehicles, and should be familiar to buyers.
The video pans up, giving a close view of what appears to be the passenger’s side. It appears that the ambient lighting will be front and center in this dash. However, it is possible that this is just a teaser. The video zooms out to show the entire dash with the large touchscreen at the center and narrow climate vents beneath it. A partial view of the driver’s digital cluster is shown, which shows 48.211 miles. This could be a secret message, or just an random number.
The Equinox EV in the video hasn’t driven 48,000 miles. It’s not a real vehicle. The fine print in the clip also states that this is a simulation. Fine print confirms that the Equinox EV model RS will be launched in fall 2023. This means we have well over a full year to wait before a production model reaches dealers. The LT model will not arrive until 2024.
Chevrolet promised that the electric Equinox would have a starting cost of less than $30,000. Although it is not clear if the RS model will have a starting price of $30,000., we know that it will use GM’s Ultium platform. Chevrolet is more excited about the Equinox than the Blazer EV, which will ride on the same platform.
