You are seeing PSA’s future answer to the Mercedes A-Class, and similar vehicles.
The first generation DS4, a luxury hatchback designed for customers in Europe or China, was launched in 2010. The 2018 model year saw it drop in demand and the vehicle was scrapped after more than 33,000 sales. The marque is trying to revive the nameplate with a new generation.
The gallery below shows the first spy photos of the second-generation DS4 spied in snowy winter conditions, and covered with heavy camouflage. Although it’s too early for us to know much about the vehicle’s design, it looks very similar to its predecessor in terms of overall shape and dimensions.
It’s a hybrid hatchback-crossover with a focus on luxury and modern technology. It is clear that the prototype will feature a pair LED headlights on the front. It’s also logical to assume that the taillights will utilize the same technology.
The new DS4 will be riding on the same platform that supports the new Citroen C4, which has been tested on public roads. French automaker CMP will be able to offer a broad range of gasoline, diesel and hybrid powertrains through its CMP architecture.
We expect that the traditional gasoline and diesel models will arrive first at this stage of development. PHEV and other EV variants will follow shortly thereafter. The PF2 platform from the previous-generation model will be replaced by the CMP underpinnings.
The new Citroen C4 is expected to arrive in the market by the end of the year. We wouldn’t be surprised if it’s premium sibling makes its debut a few months later. However, there is no confirmation at this time.
