It will not be available until the second half of next year.

spy photos of what appeared to be a three-row SUV were published in July. The rear half of the vehicle was covered in black cladding, making it hard to identify its design. It could have been the Maverick pickup, as that was the name of Ford’s new pickup. However, we were not sure at the time. Today, we have a series of photos that prove Ford is developing a new pickup truck.

Two photos were taken through the windshield. They show the sliding rear window that is typical for pickup trucks. This makes it a strong candidate for the Maverick. Motor1 was able to obtain a leaked photo from its tailgate that an anonymous source sent us. Ford has done an amazing job hiding the pickup’s real design from curious eyes. Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the pickup. We don’t have any concrete information about the new pickup yet because it is still early in its development. However, we know that there is a good chance it will share its mechanicals with the Ford Bronco Sport and Focus. The Bronco Sport is similar to the test vehicle’s front. However, it’s difficult to see where the truck begins and ends.

Ford’s small powertrains will be available to the new truck via the shared platform. We expect to see Ford’s 1.3-liter three cylinder and larger 2.0-liter Inline-four engines. The turbocharged 2.3 liter engine that produces 280 horsepower (209kilowatts) could also be available. It is possible to see front-wheel drive outside of the US. All-wheel drive is standard in the US. We don’t think Ford will reveal the Maverick anytime soon, but we expect a reveal in late 2021. The new truck will then be available for purchase in the 2022 model year. Customers can expect the Maverick’s starting price to be lower than the Ranger’s $24,110, while it features a similar construction process as the Honda Ridgeline.
