New Kia Sportage Refreshed without any camouflage

Kia did not bother to cover the Sportage’s refreshed look while filling up at Nurburgring. Spy photographers were also present.

The refreshed 2019 Hyundai Sportage is here, but these aren’t fancy studio shots. These photos were taken by a spy photographer as the updated Sportage leaves a gas station near Nurburgring.

Although the styling changes made by Kia aren’t major, they do give the Sportage an updated look. The chrome trim now runs along the lower fascia and bisects foglights. The trademark tiger nose grille of the brand now flares outwardly on both sides, rather than being more vertical in the current model. Redesigned full LED headlights are now available, providing better illumination for the road ahead.

A red strip extends from the rear to the taillights. A chrome strip is added to the lower bumper section, along with additional reflectors.

It is difficult to see any changes in the single photo of this cabin. The center stack now has a more integrated infotainment screen. However, there aren’t any other notable changes. The 2019 Sportage won’t have the Recaro racing seats or roll cage available for purchase. These parts are only intended to provide extra safety while lapping the Nurburgring.

Rumored changes to the powertrain include a 48-volt mild hybrid system that will reduce emissions and improve fuel economy.

The near-finished state of this test mule makes it look like Kia may soon be ready to unveil the new Sportage. The Paris Motor Show is October’s next major automotive event. Therefore, the City of Light could be the ideal location to debut the new crossover. These photos show us exactly how the refreshed model will look.
