Schmee150 takes the controls of an M5 that produces nearly 100 horsepower more than the Competition model.
Manhart , a German tuner, recently revealed its MH5 700 update suite for the latest . This increases the machine’s power to 713 HP (723 PS according to German standards). Schmee150 was able to test drive the sedan’s high-powered power, including a fast section of Autobahn.
While the MH5 700 keeps the standard model’s biturbo 4.4 liter V8 engine and eight-speed auto, Manhart makes tweaks that increase the output by 96 hp (72/72 kW) as well as 89 pound-feet (122/ Newton-meters), over an M5 Competition. In stock, the sedan can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.3 seconds and 128 mph (200 km/h) in 10.8 seconds. Manhart has made improvements to the machine that should make it even faster.
Manhart also uses the occasion to make the M5 look more meaner. New carbon-fiber parts were fitted by the firm for the front fascia and rear diffuser. Schmee also said that a carbon-fiber hood is in development.
Schmee, who owns an M5, says driving Manhart’s M5 is very similar to the standard model – until you actually push the accelerator. Schmee claims that the MH5 700’s speed gains at half throttle is the same as his at full throttle.
Manhart also installs a KW suspension which lowers the ride height. They are too stiff for Manhart in the most extreme setting. However, they can be adjusted to a soft mode for street use.
Another important difference is the sound. The exhaust of the MH5 700 produces a loud, shrill sound from a cold start. The pipes can still be heard even when the valve is closed to reduce their volume.
