This is what happens when an SUV meets a MPV.

What’s Mitsubishi’s solution to the booming SUV/crossover segment? It’s an MPV-SUV-bus hybrid called the Delica. It’s a Japanese nameplate that is used for a six-seater people-hauler, sold in Japan, Indonesia and Taiwan. The new generation will feature bold new designs and advanced technology.

In terms of dimensions and overall proportions, the production Delica is very similar to the Delica Concept. The front end design is more expressive now that there are three rows of lights: LED headlights at top, DRLs below, and fog lamps at bottom. The light signature at the back is in the form of an R letter, or what Mitsu refers to as RR Combi Lamp.

The interior has six seats and six chairs, in three rows. The new dashboard features a large tablet at the center of the console. Mitsubishi placed the controls for the air conditioner, drive modes selector and gearshift just below the tablet.

The transmission in the D:5 Delica is the eight-speed automatic. It is mated with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine of 170 horsepower (127 Kilowatts) & 290 poundfeet (392 Newton meters). To further reduce NOx emissions, the latest generation of the DI–D motor employs selective catalytic reduction and AdBlue. The power is sent through the automatic to an all wheel-drive system with three modes: 2WD, 4WD and Lock.

The new Delica will soon be available for purchase in two versions, the regular and the more costly Urban Warrior. The Urban Warrior adds some visual enhancements to the exterior and new wheel designs. It also includes more standard equipment such as an electric front seat, power tailgate and leather seats.
