New Nissan Frontier To Arrive In September... 2020?

The Frontier is currently in existence for fifteen years.

Although reports about the new Nissan Frontier are rare, we do know that work is underway for a next-generation. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that we will see the pickup’s mid-size redesign anytime soon. A new report from Automotive News suggests it may take some time. Unnamed sources have confirmed to the publication that the Frontier will not be revealed until September 2020. The truck is expected to go on sale in 2021MY.

The new Frontier is not known much else, but the report mentions some “major” changes to the styling and engine. AN was told by a source that the new Frontier’s design is more modern than the older model, but the truck will still look like a truck. “This still looks like something a truck man would want.”

The 2021 Frontier will use a V6 engine that produces 300 horsepower. This power is channeled to the wheels via a seven-speed auto transmission. The next generation will not be completely new. Nissan will reportedly refresh the F-Alpha truck platform rather than moving to the Navara platform. According to AN, this source was cited by AN.

The current Frontier has existed since 2004. It is in desperate need of a replacement now that it faces stiff competition from the Ford Ranger or the Jeep Gladiator. The Frontier’s March 2019 sales dropped 11 percent to 20,221 units, compared to the previous three months in 2018. It will be interesting for us to see if this trend continues in the months ahead, taking into consideration the new competitors.
