You can expect a gentle design refresh.
We last bought a new Opel Insignia Sports Tourer in 2017. Opel’s sleek yet athletic styling was well suited for the wagon. That was two years ago. Opel is now owned by PSA Group, which also owns Peugeot as well as Citroen. A new Insignia Sport Tourer will be introduced.
New spy photos have revealed the wagon being tested at the Nurburgring. The new Insignia Sports Tourer, like other members of Insignia’s family, will get a new grille as well as a new design for its headlights. Meanwhile, the front bumper will be getting new air intakes. Similar changes are made at the rear. The rear bumper will be replaced with a fresh design and the taillight graphics will be updated. These aren’t major changes.
According to our sources, there should not be any modifications under the hood. The wagon was launched in 2017 with a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing 210 horsepower (154 Kilowatts) as well as 354 pound-feet (408 Newton-meters). Insignia Sports Tourer also had the gasoline option, which produced 260 horsepower (191 kW) as well as 295 lbft (400 Nm). The spy photos clearly show larger red Brembo brakes. These are also expected to be on the new car. The interior will likely see changes to the infotainment and other systems. It is still unknown what these changes will entail.
The new Opel Insignia Sports Tourer is not expected to arrive until the end of 2019. The changes look more like a refresh than an entirely new model. We could see the wagon at the next auto show in less than two months. The company could also decide to show the wagon at an event on its own. You can expect to see the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer facelifted soon.
