New Peugeot 608 Set for Paris Debut?

New Peugeot 608 Set for Paris Debut?  We are expecting a new generation of Peugeot 608 to show more aggression and sportiness after the disappointing efforts of the Peugeot 607 designers.

We expect something more aggressive and sporty for the new generation 608. This is after a very disappointing effort by the Peugeot designers with the 607. The new model will likely draw inspiration from the popular 308 RC Z Concept. If sources are right, we may see it at the Paris Motor Show.

Peugeot has ambitious goals with premium brands like BMW and Audi in their sights. The 608 project has a new head designer Jerome Gallix. He is committed to creating a unique styling language while keeping the iconic shape of the brand.

Although the iconic Peugeot grille will be kept intact, it will be slightly updated. However, the front fascia will see sportier updates to its lights. They will run higher up the hood than the styling seen on 308 RC Z.

The cabin will be given a lot of attention. With German manufacturers on its radar, it will certainly need something special. The design will feature more modern equipment, including a new GPS system. This will create a relaxing atmosphere.

The new 608 will be built on the Citroen C5 platform. It will inherit some of its engines, including the 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter diesel engines. PSA Peugeot-Citroen currently develops the first hybrid diesel engine in the world and the 608 seems like a good candidate for this new technology, although no confirmation has been made.

The pricing will start at a very substantial PS25,500. It will be available in dealerships sometime in 2009.
