The Dodge Charger, and Challenger still ride on versions the Chrysler LX platform, which dates back to 2005’s introduction of the 300. Sergio Marchionne, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ boss, said that the foundations may not change soon. To maintain the muscle car look, the next-gen models will use an updated version of this platform. Rumours had suggested that the next-generation Charger and Challenger would use Alfa Romeo’s Giorgio chassis.

The SRT Hellcat models will be getting a styling update later in the year. Spy shots of the Charger in testing (see gallery below) and an official teaser showing the Challenger with new hood. Dodge plans to launch a hotter Hellcat, with a Drag Pack, which would include some of the more advanced parts such as the trans brake, Air Chill, and Nitto tires. The engine output could increase to 725 horsepower (541kilowatts).
Contrary recent rumors the Chrysler & Dodge brands are still around. But FCA is changing what each brand focuses on. Chrysler will place more emphasis on its minivan business and its partnership with Waymo for autonomous vehicles. Dodge will be a more powerful brand. Both brands will only offer products in North America.
