It is possible to see it sooner than expected
Spy photographers have been spotting the next generation BMW X1 since 2021. The new crossover has been spotted on public roads, in car parks and on ice. The crossover was spotted at the Nurburging this time.
The X1 running laps around the track seems to be the non M Performance version. This is evident by the absence of four tailpipes at its back. It does not look like an electric iX1. It doesn’t have any ports, which suggests that this is not a plug in hybrid. This could be the fuel-fed, standard version.
The X1 still has its production-ready taillights and headlights, but much. These photos don’t reveal much about the X1’s handling. The crossover drive should be improved with additional data from the test. It should be a good steer, since the third-generation X1 will use the Mini platform (BMW’s UKL architecture).
A rendering of what the crossover could look like underneath the camouflage. BMW seems to be taking a cautious approach with the new X1. The new X1’s grille will be more prominent than ever, but not as prominent as the XM performance crossover’s buck tooth design. Future X1 models will have vertical corner air intakes, and rakish headlights. The next generation could see it grow by a few inches. The current X1 measures 174.8 inches (4,439mm), 71.7 inches (1.821mm) wide and 63.5 inches (6612mm) high.
The powertrain configurations are not yet mentioned. We could see a variety of mild hybrid turbo-gas and diesel engines. A plug-in hybrid BMW model is possible, given BMW’s push towards electrification. The M Performance 35i, electric iX1 and M Performance 35i models are almost confirmed.
