Next-Gen Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Looks Rugged on The Road

This truck is a step up from the standard Colorado. It has a new front bumper and a higher ride height.

This is a new look at the Chevrolet Colorado in rugged ZR2 trim. This car is currently on the road in Detroit. Two layers of camouflage cover the truck. The truck has a wrap around the body with fabric on top. The grille appears to be covered by extra material beneath the cover. Because it appears different in spy shots It looks like the Colorado gains split headlights. You can see the running lights along the edge. Under these strips is another set of lamps. The front-mounted camera is likely to be visible through the hole in the fabric covering. Under the nose is a skid plate. The wheels are covered by the development team along the sides. These photos show that the wheels have a multi-spoke design. Goodyear Wrangler Territory At tires are used on the truck. The bars along the lower edges of the truck appear to double as rock rails or side steps. Although it’s difficult to know for certain, the taillights appear to be factory-spec. This ZR2 has an elevated ride height compared to the spy photos of the Colorado. A different front bumper is visible that would allow for a better approach angle. The new Colorado’s physical footprint looks very similar to the current pickup, as can be seen from the photos. However, the styling has been updated. This platform is an evolution from the GMT31XX platform, which the company calls GTM31XX-2. According to reports, the new Colorado ZR2 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.7 liter four-cylinder. This mill makes 310 horsepower (231 Kilowatts) in the Silverado and 430 pound feet (569 Newton-meters), but it’s possible that the tune for the rugged Colorado may be different.

The ZR2’s mechanical components are not as clear. It is possible that the truck will continue to use Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve Dampers like the previous model. The new Colorado and its GMC Canyon equivalent are expected to arrive in the USA for the 2023 model-year. It is possible that the ZR2 or Canyon AT4X versions will also be available as 2023 products.
