Next-Gen Dodge Challenger Redesigned With Evolutionary Design
Evolution, not revolution.

The Challenger continues to be a strong seller for Dodge, and the automaker is happy that the current generation is kept alive for another couple of years. The new Challenger is expected to arrive in 2021 along with the next-gen Charr.

This rendering shows a potential look for the new model. Our artists took the evolutionary route. The car’s profile will not change much, except for a slightly wider rear end and more muscular wheel arches. The familiar front layout, with its four round headlights, will likely remain. A more prominent grille will be added to the bumper.

We don’t know yet what platform will be used to support the new Challenger. It was reported in September that Dodge could transport the vehicle to a Maserati architecture . This Maserati architecture will be used by the Ghibli sedan. There were rumors that the Charger and Challenger would use Alfa Romeo’s Giorgio chassis. Motor Authority stated that the duo would continue to ride on models of the Chrysler LX platform. This is more than 10 years ago.

Marchionne explained that Giorgio’s problem is its size and ability. This is in contrast to Dodge’s American heritage.

If that is Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ final decision, then the platform will be extensively revised to ensure Dodge meets the new stricter safety and emissions standards. The work on the new architecture is well underway and you won’t be able to recognize it when we are done.
